Ezicomms – what a winner!
Having just completed our Inaugural Local Roads Congress I
just had to let you know how much the Ezicomms system added
to the event. With a mixed bag of Local Government Mayors,
Councillors, Engineers and Technical officers as delegates
it is often difficult to generate feedback and involvement
in open discussion forums.
Ezicomms makes it – well “Ezi.” Everyone
loves mastering the technology, our prepared questions allowed
us to structure the session to cover all the key areas and
the instant feedback certainly generates debate.
We also used the system at the end of the Congress to complete
the dreaded “Congress Evaluation Forms” on the
spot. Not only did we get a 100% response but the delegates
indicated they loved the session too!
This is the second time we have used Ezicomms, on both occasions

for a large Australian electrical retailer. This client needed
to workshop issues and gain feedback from 400 key suppliers
and store managers.

"I had my proposal for 3 Trivia
Night gigs for a series of educational conferences accepted
and became aware of using Ezicomms on the way to getting the
nights organized.
We did the classic before and after test. On conference 1
we ran a Trivia Night with PowerPoint Questions on the Big
Screen but no Ezicomms. The audience was with us but I had
to work hard to keep the room entertained, they could see
the questions what did I have to add? We all know how demanding
corporate accountants can be!
Then we changed the whole shebang. Ezicomms shipped the handsets
down, sent instructions for downloading the software and the
entire plan started to reverberate.
The show was on Friday night. By the time I had the set up
coordinated it was Thursday. Set up was straightforward, once
the gist was got. I took a new set of Trivia Questions and
built the Handset enabled version, added the countdown clocks,
built in variable scoring and tested the whole system. And
tested it because I’ve used new technology before and
I wasn’t ready to trust anything when the crowd was
watching my every move.
I rushed down to the conference centre. I was getting excited.
My reputation as fun-maestro was on the line. I set up the
room and tested the handset system and it worked like a charm.
However technology always works when no one is watching. It’s
Murphy’s particular Law of using gadgets in public.
I warned the crowd that we were heading into new territory
and the either the technology could collapse or I could at
any moment but we moved forward. But I was so wrong about
trusting this technology, it just worked. I gave the crowd
a pep talk about the handset gadgets and they buzzed appropriately.
The first question appeared. I threw it to the crowd, the
10 second clock ticked down and question 1 was over, done
complete. The crowd’s responses appeared on the screen
almost instantaneously. I had animated a bouncing ball to
signal the correct answer and they went ooh, yeah and some
other pejoratives. It all worked. It was engaging. The room
wanted more. We kept feeding them more of these buzzed up
questions.
The whole trivia set up worked like a charm. The quarter time
scoreboards built from last to first and the groups got competitive
but it was all great fun. The process was easy for the one
man show to operate and keep all involved. The Senior Partners
who watched from the back of the room loved it and loved the
improvement.
By the third of these conferences there was no tension and
the process just clicked over like a good Swiss watch. I really
appreciated using the technology, the client was delighted,
the audience lapped it up, and the entertainment level of
the night was greatly enhanced. It was cool, fun and the feedback
was excellent."
